For this challenge we were asked to use a Journalling Tag on a card. I found one in a set of papers and things that came free with a Scrapbooking magazine - I turned the tag on the side and stamped on it. The green paper was from the same free kit.

For this card we were asked to use embossing ( I used a Sizzix Tim Holtz one called "Bricked" ) and include a star. I made my star with a Quilling Comb ( first time of doing this technique ).

A fairly easy requirement for this card - we had to stamp on patterned paper.

With this challenge there was a quiet a list of colours to use - brown, blue, dusty red, green, cream, gold and white. Plus it had to have a vintage look.

I enjoyed using my new Ecraft machine to cut out the flourishes. Also I did no stamping on this card. The tag and patterned paper were from a free kit that came with a Cardmaking magazine.

For this card we had to use a stamp we have not used for a long time. The Nativity stamp I used was bought the first year I started stamping which was back in 1992 and the Bible Verse stamp was the first scripture stamp I ever bought and would have been bought that year also.

For this challenge our card had to be totally made with the colours - white, blue, silver and purple. I usually scan my cards but thought that scanning would dull the silver but photographing has dulled the purple ( can't win can I?)

For this card the challenge was to use the traditional colours of red and green with some added sparkle.

12 Cards to Christmas Challenge with Ideal Papercrafts

Each week now at Ideal Papercrafts we will be given two challenges to make Christmas card for six weeks giving us 12 cards ready for giving away this Christmas. I like these challenges as it helps me get started on my cardmaking for Christmas time.
At the end of the 6 weeks for each card I share in the gallery at Ideal Papercrafts I will have an entry in a prize draw which I think has three prizes.

The challenge for this card was to use things from our stash that are not specifically for Christmas. The papers and 3d sticker. I used are by BoBunny and the them was definitely not Christmas. The feather of course is not the normal thing to put on a Christmas card and the epoxy sticker by Creative Imaginations was not from a Christmas set.

Reflections in the River

This scrapbook page is for my Tasmanian Holiday album and was made for a challenge at Scrap of Difference's Cyber crop this weekend. The challenge is the colour one and the colours we had to use are Kraft, Blue and Yellow and the photos to do with WATER as that is the theme for the weekend.

I used my new Ecraft machine to make the flourishes and the lettering.

This is a card made for a Cybercrop at Scrap of Difference. The theme for the weekend is "WATER" so on this card we had to have a Wavy border; A - the letter a somewhere; T - two or more circles; E - embossing; R - rubons.
Recently I decided to dabble in some quilling which I used to do about 18 years ago and gave up when I became addicted to rubber stamps. This is my first little bit of quilling now I have bought some new tools and papers.

Z was for "Zebra". We were asked to use black and white and only one other colour on a layout.

My page is my granddaughter, Kirra sitting on her Great Great Great Grandfather's chair.

X was for "X marks the spot". We had to have a circle at least 6 inches across on a layout.

I put together another page for my Tasmanian holiday album.

W was for "Wish". We had to make a greeting card on which we had the word "wish".

V was for "verse". We were asked to create a layout on which we used a "verse, poem or lyrics".

I found a poem which I felt went with these photos of my granddaughter busy playing.
On this day she knew I had my camera and was taking photos of her but she just busily kept on playing as if I was not there.

For this challenge we had to make a greeting card on which we used the letter "U" as a word.

T was for " Two Techniques". We were asked to create a layout on which we did two forms of distressing.

I put together another page for my Tasmanian holiday album. The green paper was torn and the photos were sanded for my two techniques.

S was for "Swirly". We had to make a card on which we used a rubber stamp of a swirl.

R was for "Ready". We have to create a layout on which we were to use the word "ready".

I dug out a photo of my daughter ready for her first day at school - way back in 1989.

Q was for "Quick Card". We were given a sketch to work with and this is the card I made and it was done fairly quickly.

P was "Pins and Needles". We were asked to created a layout on which we had some stitching ( either hand or machine )

I made another page for my Tasmanian Holiday album. I did machine stitching on the yellow mounts behind the photo. The little journal block was already printed with stitching.

O was to have an "OWL" on a greeting card.

N was a layout on which we were to use "nekkid" chipboard - no paints or inks but inked edges were allowed.

I put together a layout for the album of a trip to Tasmania which I am slowly getting done. The holiday was back in 2007.

For the M challenge it was "More is Better". We had to make a card on which we were to have at least 5 layers.

For the letter "L" the challenge was to put together a layout using a photo or photos of "a LOVED one".
I decided to share my oldest and youngest loved ones on my page.

For the letter "K" we had to make a card on which we were to use the word "Kiss" or "Kisses".
This gave me an opportunity to get a card made for my husband to give to him on our anniversary (12th September).

The "J" challenge was "Jiminy Cricket" - we had to create layout and use little bugs or critters on i.
This gave me the opportunity to do a page using photos of my step-Granson, Kyle who just loves Bugs. This was a fun page to put together. I enjoyed using my photoshop program to make the photos cartoon like.

The challenge for the letter "I" was inky - we had to use some sort of sprayed ink on a greeting card.
I used Adirondack ColorWash for my card.

H - ABC Crop at My Sketch World

The challenge for "H" was a layout using "HOT" colours - red, orange and yellow.

I decided to use photos of my granddaughter, Imogen showing her hair before she and a friend played hairdressers. The after photo was taken by my brother-in-law and had a busy background so I played around in Photoshop to take away the background and replaced it with just plain yellow.

For this challenge we had to make a card for "G" which was "girly and had green on it".

For the letter "F" we had to put together a layout on which we had to use "FOUR" photos.

I enjoyed creating a page using photos from when my granddaughter Kirra was born last year.

For the letter "E" we were asked to make a card for an "EVENT". It could be any event so I decided to make a card for retirement.

For D , it was "DOTS" on a layout. I made use of a cute photo of my youngest granddaughter - Kirra.

For C we had to have at least one "CLOUD" on a greeting card.

Last month I took part in a crop run by My Sketch World. It was a total of 26 challenges going through the alphabet. It was run by one day being a scrapbook page and the next a card. I thought I would share what I created for this crop and will share two each time I add a posting. So here I will share A and B. A was a card with "ADORNMENT" - we had to add some bling or sparkle. The patterned paper I used had glitter already on the flowers and I added gems to the centre of the flowers.
The B was "BORDER PUNCH" on a scrapbook page. I used the challenge to put together another page for the album of my daughter's wedding. The photo was of the lovely couple dancing.

Week 5 - Christmas in July Card Challenge

This is the last week for the Christmas in July Card Challenge at Ideal Papercrafts. For this week we were asked to make a gift card no bigger than 3" wide. The largest scalloped circle on my card is 3" wide.

Week 4 - Christmas in July Card Challenge

This week's card challenge was to make a card with some dimension and we were not allowed to use any rubber stamps at all.
I used a digital scrapbooking image by Valerie Randall of the angel. Printed it three times and made a paper tole from it. Added some glitter. The background is the front off an old Christmas card ( nice to be able recycle it ).

Week 3 Christmas in July Card Challenge

This challenge is from the forum of Ideal Papercrafts. I nearly forgot to share this here last week. We were asked to create a card using non-traditional Christmas colours. I chose to work with purple and cream.

I am now editing and adding this information: Today I discovered my card was voted the best for last week so I won a prize of a pack of Christmas papers ( this is 12 x 12 papers used for scrapbooking as well as for cardmaking)

Week 2 - Ideal Papercrafts Christmas card in July Challenge

The challenge for this week was to have the word "Star" somewhere on our card. This rubber stamp by Stamp-It was just perfect for this challenge.

July Christmas Card challenge at Ideal Papercrafts

I am taking part in a challenge on the forum of Ideal Papercrafts. For five weeks we will be given a challenge to made a Christmas card. Great way to get started on this years cards for giving to family and friends.
Here is my card for Week 1 - we were given the challenge to have a "collection of something" on our card. I chose to have a collection of flowers - five of them are the same style and size.

Cyber Crop at Scrap Boutique

This is the layout for the "Roast Dinner" challenge and is for the album of my daughter's wedding which took place in 2005. I would not have thought I putting this page together like this and am really pleased with the result. The photo is small but I like it - far better than the 4 x 6 colour photo I had planned to use for this page of the album. We had to use a 5 cm x 28 cm piece of non-traditional scrapbooking item behind the photo and I chose to use two strips of packaging tape with had white stripes in it. For the title we had to use three different alphas. Also the three different sized butterflies was a requirement along with the pleated ribbon which I had never done before.

Cyber Crop at Scrap Boutique

This past weekend I took part in a cyber crop at Scrap Boutique which is a forum I recently joined. I liked two of the challenges. One was a sketch and the other a "Roast Dinner" - it was like a Blind Scrap where you are given the list of requirements and then the directions of where to place things on the page but you don't get to see the hosts sample page until after others complete their pages.

This first page is what I created for the sketch challenge and is for an album of a holiday my family took way back in 1996. The background paper behind the photos is a photo of hot coals I found on the web and printed out.

I took advantage of a challenge on the forum of Ideal Papercrafts to get another page done for my Tasmanian Holiday album.

I enjoyed making the distressed circle "flowers" as I had never made these before.

Layout which won me a prize.

This is a layout for a mid-month challenge at Ideal Papercrafts which I won a prize for.

The challenge was a Recipe one. We were given a list of things to include on our page as follows:
Two patterned papers, one plain cardstock, a piece of lace cardstock, 8 brads, two ribbons ( I placed a yellow variegated one over a brown one), 3 rubons ( the flowers ), an alpha ( hobart ); three pieces of chipboard ( the arrows).

I was happy to get another page put together for a holiday we had in Tasmania back in 2007.

It is so exciting that this week I won a voucher at Ideal Papercrafts for my "Two" layout which I have shared below.

Then today I got a message to say I won last month's mid-month layout prize so I will share that layout after I post this. For that I receive a prize ( scrapbooking supplies)

For this challenge we had to use an envelope, fourishes and some bling.

I had not scrapped this photo of my granddaughter taken on her 2nd Birthday so I used this challenge as incentive to do so.

The journalling reads:
Imogen celebrated her 2nd Birthday over in Canada with her parents and some of her Dad's family.
Once again Grandma was not there to celebrate the day.
Imogen's Mumma and Daddy gave her a toy camera.
